Carolina Fiber Frolic Fall Retreat: Nov 9-11, 2012

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year (probably because it means the heat of the summer is behind us….) I say this every year & my family responds with “yes, we know that because you say it every fall”. Well, it’s good to be consistent, right?

The first Carolina Fiber Frolic Fall Retreat is shaping up to be a fabulous event. We’re including some favorite parts of the spring retreat, like the evening socials, the friendly atmosphere, and the pleasures of working with fiber, but we also are working hard to make the Fall event unique!

We’re planning a Stash-Swap-Sale evening, as well as an opportunity for attendees to sell other hand made items that they make year round!

We are working on a very special “pre-retreat” bonus day that will take place on Thursday, November 8, so you’ll want to pencil that day onto your calendar too. We’re still working out all the details & can’t wait to share it with you. We think you are going to love this unique opportunity!!

If you want to be added to the Carolina Fiber Frolic Retreat e-mail list, send a message to Jan AT CarolinaFiberFrolic DOT com and you’ll be kept up to date with plans and registration information.

Thanks for your interest in and support of the Carolina Fiber Frolic!!

Hi Jan (and Fiber Frolic folks!)

While you’re in the area, please stop by HWFA (Heritage Weavers and Fiber Artists) in Hendersonville for a fun field trip! (The farm is located about 4 miles from SAFF.) HWFA is a group of exceptionally talented weavers, spinners, inkle weavers, rug hookers, felters etc. etc.

Check them out on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Heritage-Weavers-Fiber-Artists/89557103015

Learn more about them here: http://www.hwfawnc.com/

OH, and if you’re in the area in August, they’re holding a WONDERFUL 2-morning class on Felted Birdhouses. Only $25 which includes all materials. (You can see the details on their FaceBook page.)

I am planning to come this fall, I am so glad I have not missed it.
Where can I get directions from Raleigh?

Last fall, word spread through the LA fiber arts grapevine that a professor at USC was looking for people to come in and teach her students to spin on a drop spindle. As an alumni (and a spinner), I jumped at the opportunity and arranged for myself and two other teachers, Ercil Howard and Debbie Coyle, to head to campus with all our drop spindles and combs, cards, and plenty of different types of fiber for the class.
